This has been a huge project for me. The process of learning perspective, the amount of detail going on with the subjects all has my head spinning! I am loving this process, but also feel somewhat frustrated too. At this point, I think I’m about 95% complete on this painting. I need to do a lot more work on the dogs and around the dogs before I finish. I think the rest is done. The “learning” part of this for me is how to paint the animals in such a way as to show enough detail and personality, yet not get overly caught up in detail and personality. It’s a fine line. I should be done with this by next class session. I’ve very excited about it!
My next project is to paint in “plein air” and work on live subjects. I just saw a demonstration by Chuck Ceraso this week and I’m intrigued. He offers a 6 week studio class that I think I’ll sign up for. Chuck painted this picture in an hour and half using a palate knife. Amazing.
